About TransMAC

TransMAC is a mutual assistance agreement among numerous transit agencies in Central and Southern California. There is no cost or obligation; TransMAC provides a framework for requesting mutual assistance. Assistance is provided if an agency is able after evaluating the request and impact on their own service. Agencies receiving help reimburse the providing agency. Transit has played a part in many major emergencies, including the September 11th attacks, wildfire evacuations, heat waves and many others. Transit is one of the key community lifelines that society relies upon in times of crisis and in times of peace. TransMAC provides the following:

  • An agreement in advance for transit agencies to support each other in emergencies and planned events, with no obligation.

  • A detailed Operational Guide so that agencies can have a menu of possible equipment, including fuel type, that they can call upon in an emergency.

  • Networking and training opportunities to build relationships before disaster strikes.
